Acting Resume

Francisco Solorzano - lifetime member of The Actors Studio who is an award winning Latino actor, filmmaker. He most notably wrote the critically acclaimed, first ever stage adaptation of the Academy award winning film, Dog Day Afternoon (Theatre Row Theatres) which he also directed and co-starred in, Off-Broadway.

 

Acting: Francisco is also known for his leading role in the two-act drama, SINS OF THE MOTHER (developed w/ Ethan Hawke, Chris Cooper, Bobby Cannavale, and Michael Stuhlbarg). He has acted in and directed many productions with prolific companies such as 303 Theater (in Chongqing, China), The Flea Theatre, 59E59, INTAR, The New Ohio, LAByrinth, Rattlestick, Dixon Place, HERE Arts, Florida Stage, EST, Orlando Shakes, Stella Adler Theater, Art of Acting Studio in LA and many others.

 

Screenwriting: Cyclone, short film featuring a Latinx cast, award winner at several festivals including Katra Film Series for Best Short Screenplay award. The Space Since And In Between, A Northern Star starring Lynn Cohen, Best Short Film at Barcelona International Film Fest and Best Screenplay Semi-Finalist at Hollyshorts Film Festival. In Sheep’s Clothing recently developed at The Actors Studio in NYC, I Am Here, a BLM short film and MACHO, a short film recently completed. Currently developing several socially relevant short scripts as well as a Television Series. Spec script available upon request.

 

Playwriting: Off-Broadway writing debut with Kingdom Come at Jean Cocteau Rep, followed by the world premiere, stage adaptation of Dog Day Afternoon. The short play, Mateo And The Whale premiered at Chongqing, China’s Awake International Festival. Additional short plays, Flight, Mikey & Sally, Sound of Giants, and Blue Whale for the national, 1MPFestival at INTAR and The New Ohio Theater.

With 20 years of experience producing theatrical productions, Francisco has also produced special events: Barefoot Theatre Company’s annual Gala and Vassallo Awards, Rockaway, benefiting victims of Hurricane Sandy and Indestructible, for victims of hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and the devastating 2017 earthquake in Mexico. Executive Producer of the 70/70 Horovitz Project, a world-wide festival with select productions in Nigeria, Greece, Australia and France. Collaborations with Annabella Sciorra, John Doman, Gina Gershon, Jesse Eisenberg, Craig muMs Grant, Kristoffer Diaz, David Zayas, Hillary Bettis, Andrea Ciannavei, Mickey Sumner and Anna Chlumsky to name a few.

 

Education: TV writing with Andrea Ciannavei (ongoing); Screenwriting with Jacob Krueger Studio, NYU’s Tisch: Film and TV Industry Essentials, The Actors Studio; Playwright at Brooklyn College; Playwrights Horizons; Mary Gallagher. Acting training with The Actors Studio (Life Time Membership finalist), Lee Strasberg Theater Institute, HB Studio, LAByrinth Theater Company; Advanced On-Camera Classes with Risa Bramon Garcia; Lyle Kessler's Acting Masterclass. BFA in Acting & Cinema Arts: CUNY’s Brooklyn College (recipient of Department of Theater Alumnus of the Year Award).

 

Francisco is the Creative Director of Connected Health Solutions, Inc., with focus on writing and producing. CHS is comprised of a team of public health and production professionals dedicated to positive applications of “new media“ and behavior science to improve the lives of vulnerable, underserved communities. Co-Founder of Barefoot Studio Pictures & Barefoot Theatre Company. Proud member of The Actors Studio's Playwright/Directors Unit, Actors' Equity Association and SAG-AFTRA, Francisco currently splits his time between Brooklyn, NY and Hollywood, CA.
